The police officer who saved a young Lil Wayne’s life has passed away. Robert Hobbler was found dead at his New Orlean’s home on Friday. His cause of death hasn’t been revealed, but Hobbler has had health issues in the past.

Hobbler is most known for saving Lil Wayne’s life at 12 years old. Lil Wayne always speaks highly of Hobbler for saving him when he mistakenly shot himself in the chest when he was 12, and he was the only officer that made sure he was okay.

Lil Wayne has also received backlash for championing Hobbler. He often says he doesn’t believe in racism because Hobbler, who is white, saved his life when the other black officers just walked passed him.
