The KL Sessions Court has sentenced Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun to 12 years in prison.
She was sentenced to 10 years in jail for neglecting a Down syndrome teenager, and 12 years for abusing the girl.
She will serve the sentences concurrently from today.
Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali has been found guilty at the KL Sessions Court, of neglecting and abusing a teenage girl with Down syndrome.
Judge Izralizam Sanusi says, the victim was abused and neglected to a point she showed signs of PTSD. The judge also rejected Siti Bainun’s testimony that the teenager’s injuries were from spilled hot water, as Siti was not home at the time of the incident.
He believed it was illogical that the multiple burn wounds and scars on the girl’s body, were from spilled hot water.
Judge Izralizam Sanusi found that the defence failed to raise any reasonable doubt against the prosecution’s case.
Siti Bainun had been charged with neglecting and abusing the teenager, under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
