The funeral expenses for the late Tate Makgoe, a former Free State Education MEC, amounted to R3.5 million.
These costs included R1 288 500 for food and beverages, R355 000 for various performing artists, and R59 000 for flowers. Additionally, 20 couches were rented for family and dignitaries at two events, totaling R28 380.
The funeral also involved expenses for a casket and burial plot, amounting to R130 900, as well as various other items such as lighting, stages, red carpets, projectors, and toilets.
