“The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind. #LGBTQIA”.
– Pedro Pascal on Instagram. Pedro Pascal has frequently been vocal about his support for the LGBTQIA+ community and its rights, with his latest social media post showcasing his allegiance.
The actor shared a series of pictures of pride flags that featured the rainbow motif and also proudly bore the trans colors, something he has frequently done in the past.
The bill has been met with backlash.
Former activist and politician Carlos Guillermo Smith took to Twitter to share his disbelief.
“I can’t believe I’m writing this,” he wrote.
“A new Florida bill will tell courts to seize trans children away from their supportive parents if those parents provide or are ‘at risk’ of providing them life-saving care.”
The post also comes amid a tumultuous time for the community as bans on trans healthcare and drag shows are instituted in Tennesse.
He immediately received a barrage of supportive comments and emojis from the likes of Gal Gadot, Sophie Turner, Xavier Dolan, and Rachel Zegler, among others.
His The Last of Us co-star, Bella Ramsey, also dropped a slew of rainbow and trans flags, leaving a comment that simply read: “Love love love,” you can check out a video teasing their appearance together below. Pedro was one of the first people to voice his support for her, sharing the cover on his Instagram page with the caption: “My sister, my heart, our Lux.” The Chilean-American actors’ other siblings include older sister Javiera and younger brother Nicolás.
In her interview with Ya, Lux stated that her family consistently supported her in her transition journey, stating: “For everyone in my family my transition has been very natural. Almost something they hoped would happen.”
Referencing Bob Dylan’s 1962 civil rights anthem, The Mandalorian star wrote: “The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind. #LGBTQIA.”
Pascal’s post of support comes as the US continues to curb transgender rights, with Florida lawmakers moving to take ’emergency jurisdiction’ of transgender youths who are ‘at risk’ of receiving gender-affirming healthcare, such as puberty blockers or hormone therapy. Pascal’s post, while it makes no reference to the latest anti-trans legislation in the US, had come as a breath of fresh air for some.
So far, his post has garnered more than one million likes in seven hours (at time of writing), with many taking to the comments to praise the Game of Thrones star for his allyship.
One user said: “In Pedro we trust.”
A second commented: “From the mom of a trans kid, thank you!”
A third chimed in with: “This is the way!” The Last of Us star took to social media in 2021 to congratulate and introduce his sister to the rest of the world, Lux Pascal, who had just come out as a transgender woman.
And a freakin’ chic one at that, judging by the Ya magazine cover the Game of Thrones star shared on Instagram.
Doing exactly what a fab big brother should do, Pascal shared the cover with an adorable caption: As for Pascal, he is very clearly a proud older brother. He posted a photo of Lux’s cover on Instagram with the caption, “Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux.”
