Alec Lushaba, the newly formed Financial Times alleged that Students Union President Colani Maseko was injured during a confrontation with security forces.
The sentiments of the editor come despite clear evidence including videos suggesting that Maseko was abducted by Mswati’s soldiers and almost killed, he was subsequently hospitalized at Mkhiwa Clinic.
The Financial Times is a media entity with alleged links to King Mswati and his business partner Michello Shakantu, the Director of Inyatsi Construction.
In an article that was subsequently published by IOL, Lushaba, a resident of LaMgabhi Etiyeni who had called for the arrest of pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube among others, alleged that
Colani Maseko was involved in a confrontation with security forces.
Worth-noting, the Students President was abducted by a soldier while broadcasting the live protest of students at the University of eSwatini.
“One such incident took place on Tuesday when Swaziland National Union of Students president Colani Maseko is reported to have been injured in a confrontation with security forces at the University of Eswatini and required hospitalisation”, reads the article in part.
Lushaba, the former Swazi Observe editor, a strong supporter of Mswati’s regime is among the State journalists allegedly assembled by Shakantu and Mswati to defend his Government in the newly established Financial Times.
