Starfield has already passed 6,000,
000 players.
On launch day, the game hit 1 million concurrent players, an impressive achievement on its own. Now, with the title publicly available in stores and easily accessible via an Xbox Game Pass subscription, it appears the adventure has exploded in popularity.
Starfield has smashed records for Bethesda Game Studios, becoming its biggest launch of all time, with 6 million players already picking up the game. The news was announced on Twitter, where Bethesda thanked players for their support.
Notably, Starfield has only been available for two days out of early access. While it launched on 1 September 2023 for those willing to pay a premium price, its full ‘public’ release has only been available for a short, and seemingly very popular, period.
Note the use of “players” rather than “copies” or “units”, as this indicates the number also includes players who played Starfield via their Game Pass subscription.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer also chimed in to announce on first day of launch that Starfield has amassed 1 million concurrent players on launch.
According to SteamDB, the highest concurrent players of Starfield on Steam during the launch window was recorded on September 6, 7 PM UTC at 269,177 players. This suggest most of the players are either on Xbox consoles or use the Xbox app on PC to play the Microsoft Store version.
Having Starfield on Game Pass definitely inflated a bit of the numbers, but knowing that at least 250,000 players purchased the game in full at launch (or earlier) sounds not too shabby either, especially since we’re not even a full week after launch yet. It’s a strong start.
