Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Picture of father and man shielding his daughter during gunshot at Whitmer Central Catholic High school in Toledo, Ohio, goes viral on social media.




The game between Central Catholic High School and Whitmer High School was seven minutes away from ending when a dozen loud gunshot sounds could be heard.


“Dear Washington Local Families, An act of violence occurred outside the stadium at tonight’s football game between Central Catholic and Whitmer. At this time, we know that three people were shot, including two adults and one Whitmer student, and were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. No guests were injured in the evacuation, and we could not be prouder of our students, staff, Whitmer fans, and our guests from Central Catholic. The Whitmer Athletic policy of wanding and screening all guests was enforced, and the WLS pre-established safety plan was initiated immediately. We will update as further information becomes available,” Local Schools Superintendent Kadee Anstadt said.


Three people were shot outside a high school football game Friday in Toledo, Ohio, and their conditions are not life-threatening, according to the Toledo Police Department.


The game was being played at Whitmer High School against Central Catholic at the time of the shooting. The Toledo Police Department does not have any suspects at this time.


Washington Local Schools Superintendent Kadee Anstadt released a statement following the incident, ABC affiliate WTVG reported.


“We are deeply saddened that a fun rivalry tonight was disrupted by an act of violence in the streets surrounding our event. What we know at this time is limited, and we will not speculate until further details are known. An event like this is every school district’s worst nightmare, and we ask that you keep both Central and Whitmer in your thoughts as we attempt to figure out this atrocious act,” Anstadt said.


Some were seen cowering on the ground, covering children while the band sprinted across the field. 


The shooting occurred outside the stadium, near the field house. 


A Whitmer student and two adults were injured outside of the game after suspects fired off at least 12 shots. They were taken to the hospital and are suspected to survive.


No one has been taken in custody, Sergeant Bortel told DailyMail.com on Saturday afternoon. 


Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said surveillance footage helped identifying potential suspects.  


No one was seriously injured.  DailyMial.com has contacted the Toledo Police Department for comment.


Washington Local Schools District said that no one in the crowd was injured and everyone had been screened prior to entering Whitmer Memorial Stadium. 


Kapszukiewicz said ‘a total of 16 law enforcement professionals were working the game’ off-duty and were able to keep everyone safe. 


‘There is still a lot we don’t know about the events of last night, but we do know this — what happened in our City was unacceptable. Everyone should be able to enjoy a Friday night football game without having to fear for their safety,’ he said in a statement.
