A young man in Edo state has been totured, killed and his body being deposited at a mortuary without his family’s consent.
According to the elder sister of the deceased, Lady Mercy Obazee revealed that her brother was unlawfully arrested at Megon Guest House in Benin, where he went to charge his phone. He, the owner of the guest house and other people were arrested.
She added by saying that her brother was not allowed to make phone calls when he got arrested by the SARS officers on March 6, 2020. Later on, the owner of the guest house and other detained persons were all released apart from her brother.
She continued by saying that the toture given to her brother led to his death. Lady Mercy Obazee has reached out to Talakawa’s Parliament to help her demand justice for the death of her brother.
One of the members of Talakawa’s Parliament said: “On behalf of Lady Mercy Obazee, we want to appeal to the commissioner of police, Edo state Command, to order an investigation to ascertain the cause of death of Edo youth, who died in SARS custody and was deposited in the mortuary without the consent of his people. We are tired of losing our youths unjustly. We say no to injustice”.
