Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Samantha Maiden under fire over article title: “Kyle Sandilands smashes Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews for banning gas in new homes from 2024”.
Samantha Maiden wrote: “Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews will ban new homeowners from connecting natural gas to homes from next year signalling an end to the gas-fired wok stir fry in new builds.
“The Victorian Government is billing the move as a cost of living measure claiming households will save up to $1,000 off their annual energy bills while reducing household emissions.
“But the move was slammed by radio broadcaster Kyle Sandilands, who branded the Victorian Premier “a flop” and the policy “some bullsh*t.”
The changes will also come into effect for larger new buildings, including schools or government structures.
The Andrews government said it was a key measure to drive down the state’s emissions and help meet its reduction target of 75 to 80 per cent by 2035.
Victoria is the nation’s largest user of gas, with more than 80 per cent of residences connected to gas as an energy supply.
Ms D’Ambrosio announced a $10 million Residential Electrification grants program to assist new homeowners setting up their homes without gas.
The package includes bulk rebates for solar panels and hot water systems, ensuring thousands are saved during the construction period of an all electric new home.
