The family of a 10-year-old boy from Milwaukee who killed his mother over a virtual reality headset has spoken out about the case, claiming there are no winners in the situation.

The boy’s grandmother, Lueritha Mann, told TMJ 4 that she is still grieving the death of her daughter, Quiana Mann, and described the situation as a “nightmare she cannot escape.” Her grandson fatally shot his mother on Nov. 21 after she refused to let him buy a virtual reality headset on Amazon and woke him up at 6 a.m. After informing his 26-year-old sister about the shooting, he was arrested.

‘[He]first told police that he went to her bedroom and retrieved his mother’s gun. He went to the basement, where she was grabbing some laundry. He originally described twirling the gun around on his finger, and then it ‘accidentally went off,’ investigators said in a statement.
