Victor Wembanyama’s much-anticipated NBA Summer League debut was a bit of a mixed bag.

While the Spurs rookie flashed at times with his playmaking skills and shot-blocking ability, he also endured his share of struggles during the contest. Most notably, he generated just nine points on 2-of-13 shooting to go along with eight rebounds, three assists and five blocks.

He also had what ESPN announcer Doris Burke referred to as Wembanyama’s “welcome to the NBA” moment. Playing a little over 27 minutes, he recorded just 9 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 0 steals. He also shot just 2 of 13 (15.4%) from the field, and 1 of 6 (16.7%) from beyond the arc. If he had anything going for him, it was that he recorded 5 blocks during the contest against the Hornets.

However, the misery for the young Frenchman doesn’t end there. During the game, he was given his ‘welcome to the NBA’ moment by Kai Jones.

Shaquille O’Neal dunked the ball 2,626 times during his time in the NBA. However, when it came to being dunked on, he once revealed that he had only let it happen on three occasions from three different people throughout his career. Unfortunately for Wembanyama, it doesn’t seem like his tally going to be as low as Shaq’s.
