A firearm and 7 rounds of ammunition have also been recovered, believed to have been used to commit the crime.
Collins Okundi fled the scene, early Friday morning after shooting dead Barrack, following a post-night out altercation in RIAT area of Kisumu-West Sub-County.
A police report has revealed details of an incident that led to the death of Barrack Otieno Oduor, a security detail attached to Mama Ida Odinga.
Barrack who was in the company of 2 other people was shot dead early Friday morning, around 330AM at RIAT/Uzima area of Kisumu West Sub-County.
A police report compiled at Obunga Police Station says Barrack in the company of Marilyn Marion Ouma and Donar Kajwang, had just reached Victoria Gardens Estate from Dondez Night Club within Kisumu’s CBD around 330AM, before being accosted by Collins Okundi, believed to be a manager at another entertainment joint, also within the lakeside city.
“In the process, Collins Okundi disarmed the police officer and fatally shot him twice in the head and leg. The suspect immediately left with the firearm of the officer,” reads part of the police report.
Collins also shot Donar Kajwang on the leg and was rushed to the Aga Khan Hospital, where he is currently recuperating.
The deceased’s body has since been transferred to the Star Mortuary in Kisumu as police launch a manhunt for the suspect who fled to an unknown location.
