Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Nigerian killer of 22-year-old Kenyan girl, Rita Waeni Muendo, demanded Ksh500,000 as ransom.
The family of Rita Waeni Muendo, the 20-year-old woman who was found murdered in an apartment in Roysambu on Sunday, has revealed that the perpetrators demanded ransom hours after her mysterious disappearance.
In a statement sent to Kenyans.co.ke, Muendo’s father received a message on the fateful day demanding a ransom of Ksh500,000 within 24 hours for her release.
The family then reported the matter to the police and detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal. “With this message, the family reported the matter to the police and DCI, and investigations began,” the family stated in a statement noting at least two more messages demanding a ransom were sent.
According to the family, they were not given time to respond to the messages and maintains more messages were sent after she was killed.
“Unfortunately, the family did not get further details about the ransom or an opportunity to explore this route. Additionally, some demands were made when she had already been murdered,” the family noted.
