The new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouk Yahaya, has paid his last respect to late his predecessor, Ibrahim Attahiru, who passed away one week ago on May 21, 2021 in a plane crash in Kaduna Airport.
Confirming the news, Nigerian Army, revealed that Major General Farouk Yahaya, had paid his last respect to Ibrahim Attahiru. The new COAS also signed on the condolence register placed at the Headquarters Theatre Command of Operation, Hadin Kai, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno State.
Saluting him is a form of paying respect, according to the Nigerian Army custom, Kossyderrickent reports.
Nigerian Army’s statement reads: “The new Chief of Army Staff, Maj Gen Farouk Yahaya pays his last respect to his predecessor, late Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru after signing the condolence register at HQ Theatre Command of Operation HADIN KAI, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno State.”
