Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Dua Lipa turned down Coachella due to timing issues.
Meanwhile, word is there was a push by Coachella to secure Dua Lipa for the fest but that she demurred due to timing. Shakira’s team, for their part, apparently went to the mat trying to get her a headlining slot, but Coachella ultimately passed on her—the reasons for which have engendered much speculation. There was also talk of possible top slots for The Rolling Stones, Olivia Rodrigo and Travis Scott.
HITS Daily Double also has a number of other intriguing reports about this year’s Coachella lineup. The site claims that Shakira’s team was pushing for her to serve as a headliner, which would’ve really capped off a big comeback year, but the festival passed. Coachella organizers, meanwhile, were supposedly hoping to book Dua Lipa, but she “demurred due to timing.” Peso Pluma is also heavily tipped for the festival, though he’s probably not at headliner level. Other possible headliners have included the Rolling Stones, Olivia Rodrigo, and Travis Scott.
Coachella typically reveals its lineup in early January.
Neither Del Rey nor Tyler the Creator are strangers to Coachella, but it’ll be the first time either act has headlined. Del Rey made her Coachella debut in 2014, and was slated to play again in 2020 before the festival was canceled due to the pandemic. Tyler the Creator previously performed at Coachella as a member of Odd Future in 2011, and as a solo artist in 2015 and 2018.
Coachella 2024 takes place over two weekends, April 12th-14th and April 19th – 21st, at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California.
This year’s Coachella lineup hasn’t yet announced its lineup, but industry tipsheet HITS Daily Double, which is almost always right about these things, reports that two of the festival’s three headliners will be Lana Del Rey and Tyler, The Creator. Doja Cat is reportedly in negotiations for that third headlining spot, but that one remains unconfirmed.
