Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Dean VanSchoiack is angry with members of Missouri house over child marriage ban bill as he won’t be able to marry little 12-year-old girls as he said: “Interference is my God Given Rights to her fertile, ripe body”.
A clip of the interaction between the Missouri legislators garnered attention online, with social media users scrutinizing Moon for his stance, but some critics equated his remarks to his support of 12-year-olds being allowed to marry adults.
“The fact that Missouri Senator Mike Moon said that 12 year olds can be married off to adults just sickens me. My daughter is nearly 11 and still plays with Barbies and her baby dolls,” Jess Piper, the executive director of Blue Missouri, tweeted.
Moon first used the happily-married couple that he knew from college as an example in his arguments against raising the age limit back when the state’s minimum marriage age was still 15.
On Tuesday, when the Republican introduced his bill, which seeks to prevent minors from accessing gender-affirming care, he brought the couple up again, but again some criticized him under the presumption Moon was an advocate for 12-year-olds marrying adults.
Missouri lawmakers are pushing legislation this year requiring pornographic websites and online dating services to verify the ages of all users. Proponents say the goal is to prevent children from accessing inappropriate content online.
However, civil liberties advocates are raising red flags, arguing that the purveyors of adult entertainment content want to prevent minors from viewing age-restricted content while still respecting the rights and privacy of adult consumers who wish to view such types of materials.
The video is from Project Veritas, a far-right nonprofit. According to its website, the group is dedicated to exposing corruption in government, media, big tech, politics, education, and beyond through undercover video according to its website.
Project Veritas has targeted progressive organizations such as Planned Parenthood and ACORN with “sting videos” in the past and recently admitted in a Pennsylvania court that it had no evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election to settle a lawsuit from a postmaster.
Planned Parenthood, in a statement, vehemently denied the allegations. The organization said the video in question was filmed without its staff’s knowledge or consent and is heavily doctored and edited.
