Nigerian afrobeat superstar Burna Boy, renowned for his electrifying energy and genre-bending sound, has been announced as a performer for the upcoming 2024 Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 4th. This exciting news, revealed by the Recording Academy on Twitter, promises to bring a captivating dose of African rhythm and global flavor to the prestigious ceremony.
“Attention: African Giant @BurnaBoy will take the #GRAMMYs stage on Sunday, February 4th at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT on @CBS,” the organizers declared, amplifying the anticipation for his performance. Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, joins previously announced performers like Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo, adding a vibrant splash of diversity to the lineup.
This isn’t Burna Boy’s first Grammy rodeo. He previously took home the coveted award for Best Global Music Album in 2020 for his critically acclaimed album “African Giant.” This year, however, the stage becomes his platform to showcase his artistic evolution and captivate the global audience with his infectious beats and powerful vocals.
Additionally, two-time GRAMMY-nominated comedian, actor, author, podcast host, and former “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah will return to host the 2024 GRAMMYs, marking his fourth consecutive year as host of Music’s Biggest Night.
Noah, who just won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Talk Series for ‘The Daily Show’, is currently nominated at the 2024 GRAMMYs in the Best Comedy Album Category for this 2022 Netflix comedy special, ‘I Wish You Would’.
The 66th Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles
