Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Bato dela Rosa crying as senator Juan Miguel Zubiri stepped down as Philippines senator.
Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva also announced his resignation as Senate Majority Leader.
“Thank you, guys, for your trust and confidence. God bless our beloved Senate! Signing off as your Majority Leader,” Villanueva stated.
Zubiri confirmed that Senator Chiz Escudero will succeed him as Senate President.
Zubiri broke down midway through his speech as he thanked his “leadership team” – Senate President Pro-Tempore Loren Legarda, majority leader Joel Villanueva, and senators JV Ejercito, Nancy Binay, Sherwin Gatchalian, and Sonny Angara.
Zubiri also addressed Dela Rosa during his speech, saying: “To Bato Dela Rosa, who stuck it out with me to the very end. I salute you sir.”
Dela Rosa was seen crying and saluting Zubiri for the mention.
It is widely believed that Zubiri’s ouster was triggered by his respect for Senator Dela Rosa to conduct an investigation on an alleged leaked drug operation report that implicated President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to drugs.
