The protesters, in their demand for a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza conflict, also called for an end to US military aid to Israel. They reproached President Joe Biden for his silence on a ceasefire and his request for a whopping $14.3 billion in aid for Israel. The organizers envisaged this march as the most significant demonstration in support of the Palestinian people in US history.

These protests were a response to the spiraling Israel-Gaza conflict that began with Hamas militants attacking southern Israel, leading to over 1,400 deaths and numerous kidnappings. Israel’s retaliatory air strikes and ground offensive in Gaza resulted in the deaths of nearly 10,000 Palestinians, including many civilians and children. The protesters aimed to highlight this high civilian death toll and pressurize the US government to intervene.

Furious pro-Palestine protestors climbed the White House fence and chanted ‘f*** Joe Biden’ as thousands descended on Washington DC to demonstrate against the US government’s support for Israel. 

Upwards of 100,000 people flocked to the nation’s capital as a day of pro-Palestine protests erupted across the globe, resulting in several disturbing anti-Semitic incidents. Controversial chant, ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ rang out throughout the protests, while a Hezbollah flag was spotted flying in the masses showing support for the terrorist organization. 

The massive gathering is the latest demonstration against Israel’s bombardment of Gaza, which has so far killed for than 9,250 people according to the state’s health ministry. The Washington, D.C., protest was a fragment of a larger global outcry calling for a ceasefire and an end to the Israeli blockade on Gaza. Major cities worldwide, including New York, Seattle, Philadelphia, London, Berlin, Paris, Ankara, Istanbul, Santiago, and Caracas, witnessed similar pro-Palestinian protests. The chants of “Free Palestine” echoed globally, calling for an immediate end to the bombing of Gaza.
