Persecutor on the case is requesting Shakira serves 8 years in prison and is fined $23M

We previously reported that Shakira would find herself in court for tax evasion of 14.5 million euros ($17 million) in Spain! Word on the street was that in 2012, 2013 and 2014 while living in Spain, she allegedly decided not to pay taxes in the country.

Now the persecutor on the case is requesting that she serve 8 years in prison and is fined $23M. Judge Marco Jesus Juberias wrote that Shakira lived more than 200 days in Spain in each of those three years, making her liable to pay taxes in the country.

Shakira’s team argues that her main residence was in the Bahamas. However, there could be proof that she was actually boo’d up in Barcelona Gerard Pique, with whom she has two children.

What makes this even crazier is that Shakira and a financial adviser, also named in the ruling, used a series of companies in off-shore tax havens to attempt to hide the sources of her income during those years.
