One-way economy class flight tickets from West to East Malaysia during festive seasons will be capped at RM599 starting this Christmas, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
The govt will cover the difference for tickets priced higher than RM599, excluding taxes and fees.
The subsidies will apply to flight tickets for three days leading up to the celebration dates of festivals, namely Christmas, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidifitri, Keamatan and Gawai.
Loke notes that date and name changes are not allowed, and the tickets are non-refundable. For the upcoming Christmas, travellers can purchase tickets for December 22, 23, and 24 under this scheme starting from December 16.
As for the other festive seasons, ticket purchases under this scheme will be available from January 1 next year.
