A tech-savvy North Carolina man made a dating app with only one choice — himself.
Aaron Smith, of Greensboro, recruited his software engineer friend to develop the app, called Singularity, according to WFMY News 2.
“The biggest problem with the other apps is that my face is not featured prominently,” Smith told the outlet.
The phone app features a rotation of different photos of Smith for any prospective daters who may connect with him.
Smith used a simple analogy to explain how he cut out the competition.
“If life gives you lemons, you should first make lemonade,” he said.
“Then make sure no other companies can produce or distribute their own soft drinks. So the only game in town is lemonade.”
His friend Scott McDowell, who helped create the dating app, said, “All of us who have done online dating in some sorta way can all relate to the fact that it really does sometimes suck.”
Smith even made a YouTube ad to promote the new app. But not everyone has a computer genius at their disposal, so how do you improve your odds? By knowing when and where to look!
HighSpeedInternet.com says Tinder has the most men on it, but to get women, tinder tied with plenty of fish.
Your age matters too. PC Magazine found for 18 to 45 Tinder is king, 25 to 34 it’s plenty of fish and 45 to 65 is most likely to find love on Match.
And a study by Ogury says the best day of the week to make your move is Thursday. Most people use the apps then looking for a date on the weekend.
“Trust in god to write your love story,” Amanda said.
Jonathon said there’s another key to success too.
“Be authentic. Be honest,” he said. “Too many people try to sell themselves like a car. Just be honest.”
And know one day you too could delete all these dating apps.
“Hallelujah,” Amanda rejoiced.
As for Aaron, he hasn’t heard from many women after making his new app. “Online dating is terrible, and getting more nonsensical each passing year,” the narrator in the YouTube ad says. “Sure you could meet people the old-fashioned way by going outside but that feels like a lot of work. So instead you navigate this bleak dystopian hellscape sifting through the dregs of humanity through your smartphone while each day brings you closer to the cold hard hands of death.”
“By utilising the latest in personality analysis machine-learning technology, Singularity saves you countless hours of swiping by just matching you with me,” Smith says in the advert.
Singularity contains features which will be familiar to many users of dating apps. You can swipe right to like a profile and swipe left to skip it. But it also contains some more unique additions. For example you can hit the “black hole button” to emit a “blood-curdling scream when you realize what life has become.”
