Metro Boomin drops “Niagara Falls (Foot Or 2)” (Feat. Travis Scott and 21 Savage) and “Trance” (With Travis Scott & Young Thug).

Metro Boomin has revealed the tracklist for his new album Heroes & Villains — and as expected, it’s a star-studded affair.

The Grammy-winning producer interactively rolled out the tracklist on Twitter on Wednesday (November 30), where he encouraged his followers to use the hashtag “#HeroesandVillains” to discover the titles of the project’s songs, as well as their guest features.

The album clocks in at 15 songs and boasts appearances from usual suspects like Future, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Young Thug and Gunna, as well as A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, Chris Brown, Don Toliver, Young Nudy, John Legend and the late TakeOff.

21, who has released three full-length projects with Metro including 2016’s Savage Mode, 2017’s Without Warning alongside Offset and 2020’s Savage Mode II, makes three separate cameos on Heroes & Villains.

However, Metro Boomin’s reveal of his Takeoff feature caught many fans by surprise. Takeoff’s appearance on H&V serves as his first posthumous release since his passing last month. And much like the rest of Metro’s new star-studded project, it doesn’t disappoint.

Metro Boomin first announced Heroes & Villains in September when he shared a horror film-inspired teaser for the album on social media. The project was originally scheduled to drop on November 4 before the Boominati beatmaker pushed it back due to sample clearance issues.

“I couldn’t get all the samples on my album cleared in time for next week so I’m dropping on Dec 2nd now so I have enough time to make sure you all get this masterpiece as intended,” he tweeted. “I promise it’s worth the wait!!”He also denied claims the delay was to avoid a showdown with Drake and 21 Savage, whose joint album Her Loss arrived on November 4 after being pushed back from its original October 28 release. “P.S. I would NEVER move my album date because of anyone else,” he added.

Earlier this week, Metro brought the album rollout to the big screen by debuting his Heroes & Villains short film. The cinematic, six-and-a-half-minute production stars Morgan Freeman (who previously narrated Savage Mode II) and Atlanta star LaKeith Stanfield, as well as Young Thug, Gunna and himself.

Takeoff appears on the penultimate track of Heroes & Villains, and it’s already looking like one of the record’s standout moments. Titled after its infectious “Feel The Fire” sample, the soulful cut connects Take with an unlikely collaborator: A$AP Rocky. While they haven’t appeared on a track together before, Migos and A$AP Mob members have worked together previously. Quavo, for instance, appeared on the wavy A$AP Mob collaborative track “RAF” in 2017. Furthermore, A$AP Ferg tapped Migos for a feature on his Still Strivin’ mixtape during the same year.

Yet despite their lack of previous work together, A$AP Rocky and Takeoff showcase incredible chemistry on “Feel The Fiyaaah.” Rocky introduces the track with a hook and verse, but at the 1:20-mark, Takeoff immediately steals the show. With a voice and cadence that’s perfectly tailored to Metro Boomin’s soaring soul chop, Takeoff delivers an impressive swan song. His verse boasts robust alphabet-themed wordplay, and it’s oozing with the late rapper’s signature charisma.

A$AP Rocky and Takeoff make for a dynamic combination, and it’s tragic that this may be the first and last time that fans get to hear them together.

Metro Boomin is releasing his sophomore LP Heroes & Villains tonight, a little later than originally planned (the release date had to be postponed due to sample clearance issues). The follow-up to 2018’s Not All Heroes Wear Capes features tons of guest spots, notably from Future, Chris Brown, 21 Savage, Travis Scott, Young Nudy, and Mustafa. Metro Boomin also spent Thursday teasing a collaboration with the Weeknd, which you can hear now in a song called “Creepin,” which also features 21 Savage. Nearly every album track has a collaborator; even the late Takeoff is featured on track 14, “Feel the Fiyaaaah.”
