White supremacist influencer Nick Fuentes and acquitted killer Kyle Rittenhouse made a controversial appearance in Texas, attending a meeting hosted by Jonathan Stickland, a major fundraiser for Texas Republicans, at a building he owns in Fort Worth.
The presence of Fuentes and Rittenhouse at the gathering raised eyebrows, with State GOP Chair Matt Rinaldi also in attendance. Rinaldi tried to distance himself from Fuentes, despite the fact that Rinaldi’s activities have been linked to pushing Texas to the extreme far right.
“We were just borrowing a conference room,” Rinaldi said, attempting to explain his proximity to Fuentes. “I completely condemn that guy and everything he stands for. I would never in a million years meet with that guy.”
The meeting took place at Strickland’s far right consulting firm, Pale Horse Strategies. Ella Maulding, a staunch Fuentes supporter, recently relocated to Fort Worth to work as a social media coordinator for Pale Horse Strategies and was present at the meeting.
Strickland and Rinaldi, both former state representatives, have actively pushed for a more right-leaning Texas GOP. Their political actions are supported by wealthy West Texas oil magnates Tim Dunn, Farris Wilks, and Dan Wilks, who have contributed over $100 million to anti-LGBTQ initiatives and efforts to replace Republican officials with staunch conservatives.
It is no surprise that widely-reviled Rittenhouse has chosen to align himself with a white supremacist like Fuentes. It remains to be seen if Texans will embrace or reject their hateful ideology from taking a foothold in the Lone Star state.
