MUMBWA MAN AFTER FIGHTING A LEOPARD

As Human-Wildlife Conflict remains an issue in Zambia, a 34-year-old man is nursing serious multiple wounds at Mumbwa District Hospital after surviving a Leopard attack.
Samuel Wakumelo, a farm worker at Maimbo Farm in Dam one area in Chief Kabulwebulwe’s area is said to have gathered courage and fought the beast back in defense with a sickle when it charged at him in the Kafue National Park where he had gone to fetch grass for thatching a house.
Central Province Police Commanding Officer Dennis Moola confirmed the development which happened on Saturday 20-08-2022.
It is reported that the victim used a sickle to strike back at the Leopard which then run away.
Upon the Leopard fleeing the scene, Mr Wakumelo managed to get on his bicycle and cycled back home where his relatives rushed him to the hospital.
He remains admitted and athorities have described his condition as stable.
