Popular Nigerian stars, Mr Macaroni, Nengi, Uche Jombo Rodriguez and Aisha Yesufu, have paid tributes as they mourn the passing away of Nigerian legendary singer, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as, Sound Sultan. 




The news of his death broke this morning through his family who announced it via statement. He died at the age of 44 from a deadly disease, angioimmunoblastic T-Cell lymphoma

Mr Macaroni wrote:

“Everybody,

Oya o join Jagbajantis, solve mathematics, wey dey dabaru our continent. 

Rest In Peace Sound Sultan!!!

OMG!!! Rest In Peace Sound Sultan  Absolute Legend!!! May God grant his family, his friends and fans worldwide the fortitude to bear this tragic loss.”


Nengi wrote:

“RIP Sound Sultan. Your legacy would never be forgotten. May God grant his family strength to bear this great loss. “Natural Something” was my ringtone for the longest time. It’s so sad.”


Uche Jombo:

“Sound Sultan is truly gone. May God give his family, friends and fans the grace to bear this.”


Aisha Yesufu:

“Innalillahi wa Inna ilayhi rajiun. 

May Aljanna Firdaus be your final abode, Sound Sultan. May the sickness be kaffarah for you. May God give your family the fortitude to bear the loss.

This is heartbreaking!

Innalillahi wa Inna ilayhi rajiun.”


His family statement reads:


“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of multitalented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter Olanrewaju Fasasi, A.K.A,Sound Sultan. He passed away at the age of 44, following a hard fought battle with angioimmunoblastic T-Cell lymphoma. He is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings. We, his family will appreciate the utmost privacy as we come to grips with this tragic loss.
