GES instructed thorough investigation into viral video of senior student assaulting his junior colleague in hostel room at Adisadel college.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) management has instructed the Regional Director of Education to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident of a viral video of an assault involving two Adisadel College students.
The Ghana Education Service in a statement signed by its public relations head, Cassandra Twum Ampofo described the incident as a “barbaric act of violence” and assured that GES is “committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students across the country.”
UPDATE ON THE VIRAL VIDEO FROM ADISADEL COLLEGE: The video shows an Adisadel College student ass@ulting colleague in the dormitory.
The housemaster says it happened about 3 weeks ago. He said the 2 boys in the video came to his house to report that they were playing or….struggling with each other and the tall one raised his hand and mistakenly hit the other boy.
The housemaster says he even gave them hot water to nurse the wound. This is the first time he is seeing the video.
“I reported the issue to the Head Master and expressed our sentiments on the matter. He has responded with the outcome of the DC meeting which was held this morning.”
They are sending;
1- the culprit home, he will not write the exams here on campus(he has to go to WAEC centre) to do so.
2-the victim is also going home but he will have to come and write the exams with parental escort.
3-the one who did the video and sent it viral will be suspended externally one week, come back and do internal work for one week and bring the phone else he will also be sanctioned.
4-the others who were there but did nothing, didn’t report will all do internal punishment.
5-the house master and his co will be suspended immediately, pending the outcome of this video (act) by GES
The incident happened on 30th June 2023.
The boys decided to hide it until the video came out(even the victim himself)
