Meek Mill has helped pay the bail for 20 women in Philadelphia so they can be home with their families for the holidays

The REFORM Alliance confirmed in a press release that co-founder Meek Mill helped pay the bail for 20 incarcerated women and five of them were released from Riverside Correctional Facility. The rapper said he could relate to the women’s situation because he was incarcerated during the holidays and was unable to see his son as reported by PEOPLE.

“It was devastating for me to be away from my son during the holidays when I was incarcerated. So I understand what these women and their families are going through. No one should have to spend the holidays in jail simply because they can’t afford bail. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help these women be with their families and loved ones during this special time of year.”
