Mayumi Tanaka and the original cast of ‘ONE PIECE’ will return to dub Netflix’s live-action series.

Additionally, Inaki Godoy and and Taz Skylar will dub Luffy and Sanji, respectively, in Spanish.

The series will debut on Netflix on August 31.

Original creator Oda, who is also serving as an executive producer, stated in May that the series would not launch until he is “satisfied.” He added that “each and every entity involved is working in sync.” The series will have eight episodes, as opposed to 10 episodes as originally reported.

Exciting news has just come in for One Piece fans. At Anime Expo 2023 in Los Angeles, fans of the show were treated with a special video from Netflix featuring Mayumi Tanaka, the voice of Monkey D. Luffy in the original anime version of One Piece. In the video, Tanaka could be seen gifting Iñaki Godoy, who plays the live-action Luffy, with the character’s straw hat to officially welcome the actor into the Straw Hats. It was also revealed that Tanaka will be joined by the rest of the full cast of the anime to reprise their roles for the Japanese-language dub of the live-action show.

Tomorrow Studios, a partnership between producer Marty Adelstein (Prison Break, Teen Wolf) and ITV Studios, is producing the live-action series. Matt Owens (Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is the show’s writer. Steven Maeda and Becky Clements are executive producers.

Adelstein stated in a video message shown at Jump Festa in 2017 that the live-action Hollywood television series adaptation of the manga will start with the East Blue arc and will “broaden from there.” Adelstein also stated that the series promises to create “a true One Piece” after he discussed the project with Oda personally.

“I’ve been voicing Luffy for more than 23 years now, and I think everyone has a little bit of Luffy in their heart,” Tanaka says. “Iñaki, who performs Luffy in this live-action series, is so fun and joyful that he really makes a perfect Luffy! I’m very happy to be able to voice Luffy in this adaptation as well.”

The voiceover artist added, “One Piece is a story whose words and images can resonate with you in different ways depending on your situation or perspective at any given moment, allowing for new discoveries all the time. And of course, nothing would bring me greater joy than if people who’ve never experienced One Piece can become part of the family beginning with this show.”
