Liverpool have signed Alexis MacAllister for JUST £35 MILLION

Liverpool have just signed Alexis Mac Allister for… £35m.

Reds have now triggered the clause to sign the midfielder after medical tests completed with Brighton’s permission.

Documents are being signed. Here we go confirmed. Mac Allister’s deal with Klopp’s side is set to be announced later today, with the Red trigging the clause to sign the midfielder after his medical tests were completed.

According to Romano, Mac Allister is signing the paperwork as we speak, with a deal set to be confirmed by the Premier League giants in the coming hours.

According to The Athletic, Mac Allister’s contract contains a clause that was designed to ‘help facilitate a move’.

The clause was reportedly added to his contract when he put pen to paper on a new deal keeping him at Brighton until 2025 in October.

It is not thought to be a simple release clause – where clubs simply pay a certain amount and Brighton would have to accept the offer.

It is reportedly a clause that allows the Seagulls to have more input in the deal. However, the clause appears to have helped play a role in slashing Mac Allister’s price.

It not clear exactly what the clause is or how it may be used to facilitate a transfer from one club to another but it benefitted Liverpool by dropping Mac Allister’s price from £60m to £35m. Mac Allister was initially set to cost Liverpool £60m but the Premier League giants were able to secure his services for almost half the price – according to Fabrizio Romano.

It was reported by The Athletic last month that Brighton added an usual clause to the midfielder’s deal when he signed a contract extension with Brighton in October 2022.
