Madonna had the internet buzzing Sunday after she posted a video on TikTok that led her fans to ask, “Did she just come out as gay?”
It’s easy to understand why, exactly, they wondered that. The video shows the pink-haired, eyebrow-bleached superstar dressed in all white, standing in front of a wall of mirrors. In her hands, she stretches out a pair of lace fuchsia panties. Across the bottom of the frame, the words, “If I miss, I’m Gay!”
She wads up the panties and tosses them. The camera pans around to show them flying across the room, missing the trash can by a few feet. She stands looking into the camera. With one hand on her hip, she shrugs, throws an arm into the air and spins around.
Those on social media didn’t really know what to make of it. Responses went from “Happy tweet of the day, Madonna is Gay” to “your [sic] full of crap” to no big surprise here.
“Oh wow what a surprise who knew?… said No one ever,” wrote one Twitter user. “Once again Madona [sic] picks a current issue in the news that will keep her in the news and in the public eye until the next new thing comes along.”
“So your gay now? Your full of crap!” wrote another. “Your problem is you can’t handle being out of the spotlight so you invent a story to make yourself seem important again. What a joke!”
After her miss, the songstress gives the camera a pointed look before dramatically turning around, throwing her hand up in the air.
It’s unclear whether the star was simply joking or actually making a statement about her sexuality.
Madonna has only ever publicly dated men, including Tupac Shakur, Vanilla Ice, and Dennis Rodman.
The mother of six has been married twice – to Sean Penn (1985-1989) and, decades later to Hollywood producer Guy Ritchie, with whom she welcomed son Rocco, 22.
She also had a relationship with dancer Carlos Leon, father of her daughter Lourdes, 25.
While she has never publicly dated a woman, did famously locked lips with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.
And most recently grinded against Dominican rapper Tokischa for a remix of one of her songs, kissing her in a slew of social media snaps.
Madonna and Britney also recreated their kiss at the blonde pop singer’s surprise wedding to Sam Asghari back in June, sharing a picture on social media.
In the new TikTok video, the entertainer wore her bright pink tresses parted to the side and lightly curled.
The superstar also donned a sexy white bustier over a white T-shirt, which she paired with oversized white pants.
She also accessorized with a layer of chunky silver and gold chains and bracelets.
As for glam, the musical sensation sported bleached eyebrows and a dark shade of lipstick.
Fans were certainly perplexed by the video, with one asking, ‘Coming out at 64?’ Another one added, ‘Did I just witness Madonna coming out, good for her.’
