Breaking report that David de Gea is set to leave Manchester United this summer.

In addition to those two, United added: “Ethan Galbraith and Di’Shon Bernard are seeking new opportunities elsewhere after loan spells at Salford City and Portsmouth, respectively. Both made their first-team debuts for United in a 2019 Europa League clash against Astana in Kazakhstan.

“Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens and Manni Norkett are leaving the Academy after the end of their current terms. The Academy is proud of all our departing young players and their achievements while at the club. They will all be supported in securing professional contracts at new clubs, provided with a bespoke aftercare programme, and will always have a lifelong association with Manchester United.”

United still haven’t made a decision over Greenwood’s future, but Mail Sport revealed last week that one of the options under consideration is loaning the 21-year-old to a foreign club next season – with Italy, Turkey or Spain among the options.

Sending him overseas would allow themselves a further period of reflection, while also giving them a chance to gauge public opinion along with Greenwood’s mental health and performance levels. The likelihood of the Bradford-born academy product heading to another Premier League club is remote.

And while United have had offers from Turkey, Greenwood may prefer to play at a higher level. As such, a move to Italy or Spain could be on the cards.

However, the optics of bringing Greenwood onboard may pose a problem for some ownership groups. Those with knowledge of the situation say a move to an American-owned club, such as AC Milan, might prove difficult.

There would also have to be an agreement over salary. Greenwood has been on full pay throughout the process.

Manchester United also confirms Mason Greenwood included in retain list.

No outcome yet on Man United internal investigation. He’s just under contract and so remains in list; but decision will follow later.
