Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Fans believe leak of Demons by Doja Cat is fake.
The rest of the teaser includes some other glimpses of Ricci and her creepy onscreen kids that evoke some nostalgia for Poltergeist and, more recently, the overhyped viral sensation that was Skinamarink.
Doja makes another (sans paint) appearance in a bathtub as her eyes go fully white. She also teases the single for a brief moment as her disembodied demonic hand reaches over the side of the tub.
Her new track comes after she trolled fans who called her tattoos “demonic,” responding on Twitter in April: “If ur calling me demonic honestly werk cuz like I love that u ate fr.”
In addition to the “Demons” teaser, Doja announced her upcoming fourth studio album Scarlet, which drops Sept. 22.
The clip appeared to be influenced by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s double-feature film event Grindhouse, and it borrowed the movie’s emulation of long-decayed film stock and use of eerie analogue synthesizers, though it’s unclear if much of that atmosphere will be featured in the final video.
The clip emphasized its retro nature by playing an old-school intro for ‘Prevues of Coming Attractions’ scored to Keith Mansfield’s Funky Fanfare, which dates to the late 1960s and has been used to open numerous Tarantino films.
The clip signals that it’s going to be horror themed from the opening image, in which the camera pushes in on a suburban house at night as lightning flashes in the distance and creepy synthesizers whine in the background.
The house has a ‘For Sale’ sign and a ‘Sold!!’ sign slapped on to it, indicating that the new owners might be in for an unfortunate surprise.
‘In a neighborhood near you,’ begins a sinister narrator as the camera moves inside the shadow-shrouded home, ‘they thought they had just bought the home of their dreams.’
A young boy is then seen splayed out in his bed, and a painting of a woman being terrorized by a demon is seen in a flash of light in the attic.
Then Christina is revealed as she sleeps in her bed.
‘But what they bought was something much more than what they bargained for,’ the narrator continues as the actress’ eyes open in fright.
The camera cuts to a black clawed hand that begins to move up the foot of the bed with a nauseating creaking, cracking and oozing sound.
