Latto is being called out for photoshopping the crowd during her #Coachella performance.

People also chimed in with some jokes. “That’s me and my twin brother enjoying our time with friends,” one person replied, pointing at the fact it was the exact same person. “Literally cropped out the extended pixels and it still looks like a crowd to me. Just weird they decided to do that,” another wrote.

For Latto, the first weekend of Coachella arrived following her appearance alongside Yung Miami on the remix to Lola Brooke’s “Don’t Play With It” track.

Joining Latto on Sunday’s slate of Coachella performers were Frank Ocean, Björk, GloRilla, Kali Uchis, Rae Sremmurd, IDK, Willow, Jackson Wang, Pi’erre Bourne, and more. A few days removed from the first weekend of the annual festival, the bulk of news coverage surrounding this year’s event has centered on Friday’s last-minute return of the classic lineup of preeminent punk band blink-182 and Sunday’s long-awaited headlining set from the oft-elusive and artistically daring Ocean.

Tuesday, Latto addressed the claims, saying she “never [P]hotoshopped a crowd.” As previously reported, Latto was among the artists who performed as part of the Sunday lineup of the 2023 edition of the festival’s first weekend.

Many technologically savvy musicians, producers, and DJs are no longer seeking deals (recording, publishing, or otherwise) with major record labels. Instead, they’re leveraging their independence to explore the larger financial payouts that the metaverse, NFTs, and Web3 have made possible.

For the novice, it is important to define these terms to drive home just how innovative these tech and music intersections are. In layman’s terms, the metaverse is a 3-D virtual reality that exists in tandem with the world we live in today, just without the restrictions of physics or geography. Musicians can host concerts, meet-and-greets, and more for fans across the world in real-time, all for a fraction of the cost.
