Kai Cenat just broke the Twitch record for most subscribed streamer EVER.
Popular streamer Kai Cenat has finally broken the record for the most active subscribers on Twitch, surpassing Ninja and Ludwig. At the time of writing, his subscriber count is well past the 300K mark, and it only appears to be rising.
Cenat has had a highly successful career, having grown astronomically in the two years since he started regularly streaming on the Amazon-owned platform. Twitch Tracker notes that his channel was created in January 2021. This means that the 21-year-old has become one of the most successful content creators in the world in a very short period of time.
Aside from streaming his Gand Theft Auto V gameplays, he also chats with his fans live, who pay $5 to $25 to subscribe to his exclusive content. Cenat became the highest subscribed streamer on Twitch two years after joining the platform.
Previously, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Ludwig Ahgren held this record with 269,000 subscribers in 2021.
“This has been the hardest thing of my life and I’m glad I did it. We did it. Whatever you want to do, you can do it,” Cenat stated. His unique and captivating content helped him gain a massive population among online audiences. Aside from his fans, Twitch also celebrates Cenat’s success.
The AMP house member had a meteoric rise to fame in 2022, having added about 2.5 million followers to his tally. He now boasts 4.6 million followers.
Cenat was also presented with the Streamer of the Year award at this year’s YouTube Streamy Awards.
The reasons for his popularity are manifold, from his personality and high-level collaborations with streamers like Adin Ross and IShowSpeed to his songs with pop stars such as NLE Choppa.
In late January, Cenat announced an exciting 30-day subathon event called Mafiathon. This kicked off on February 1st and is set to end on March 2nd. Game Rant reported that this is a unique type of live broadcast that every subscription received by the streamer extends the time of the total stream.
The goal of this event is to see how long the stream would go as the fans continuously subscribe to the Twitch account. On the other hand, Ninja achieved 269,000 subscribers last 2018 without a subathon. This was already a milestone for some during that year as 100,000 subscribers is already big in Twitch. Dexerto reported that subathons became incredibly popular because of Ludwig.
Cenat started his subscription marathon on February 1st and has been streaming non-stop, even keeping the stream on as he sleeps. As he reached the highest subscription mark on Twitch, he described it as ‘legendary’ while two hundred thousand people watch the stream.
