Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Ghana Private Road Transport Union of TUC Ghana, has suspended its strike, which took effect today, Monday, December 6, 2021. (Read More Here).
According to information, the union decided to go on a long strike due to an increment of fuel. In a released statement from the GPRTU, it stated it’s suspending the long strike after being called for a meeting by the Ghana Federal Government.
Early Monday Morning, commuters; workers, traders, students, etc, were seen trekking to their various places of works, schools and shops, due to the strike.
All trotro drivers honoured the strike they had embarked on. Confirming the suspension of the strike, media personality, Francis Abban wrote:
“Mr President @NAkufoAddo is meeting leadership of GPRTU this afternoon over their action. To that end the strike has been called off. Drivers union also says they owe no one apology for the inconvenience caused. Just spoke to GPRTU PRO Abass Imoro on #MorningStarr @Starr1035Fm.”
The statement reads:
“The intended strike action which was scheduled to take effect today, Monday 6th December, 2021, has been suspended. The leadership of the union had been invited to Presidency during the course of the day.
Development will be communicated to members. We therefore entreat our cherished members to go back to their normal duties.
Thank you.”
