The AmaZulu management is understood to have expressed its displeasure with the club’s current form, with McCarthy vocal in the media about selection struggles.
McCarthy was appointed in December 2020 and after a promising maiden campaign, there were high expectations for the KZN outfit.
The contract of the Cape Town-born mentor was set to run until June 2023, while Vasili Manousakis, Moeneeb Josephs and Siyabonga Nomvethe are understood to remain with the club until the end of the season.
AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has confirmed to the media that coach Benni McCarthy has left the club and an interim coach will be announced soon.
