June Jerop, a Kenyatta university student pursuing a master’s degree in Business Administration was found dead hours after going for a date with a suspected lover.




June Jerop, 36 spent the day with her friends on March 18th before she excused herself to go on a date. She told them she was going to meet a male friend for coffee but didn’t disclose much about it.


Her phone went off and her family and friends tried reaching out in vain.


Her body was reportedly found dumped near Jamhuri Primary in Nairobi before police transferred her body to the City Mortuary. According to the police, her body was found swollen and blood-stained.


Her sister Joyce Jepkemoi said they last talked on 17th March as they were to contribute some money for their ailing mother.


He er colleagues at NITA where she was working as an accountant said it was unusual that she hadn’t reported to work for two days and her phone was still off.


Joyce Jepkemoi filed a missing person report. The deceased’s family and friends ended up at the city mortuary on March 24, positively identifying her body through her clothes and hairstyle.


The family is demanding justice from the authorities as they await an autopsy to be conducted.


Detectives from the DCI are attempting to piece together her last conversations, hangout joints and any persons of interest.


“We have arrested three suspects who are aiding in investigations. So far we have analysed phone data and we are piecing together more information to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death. We already know she was murdered, what we want to establish is by who and the motive behind her killing.”
