The journalist wrote: “This is disgusting. After doing some further research, I discovered the following:

1. There is no Eze Ndigbo of Ajao Estate. The only monarch is Eze Ndigbo of Oshodi-Isolo

2. His name is Fredrick Nwajagu, the same name of the man who was arrested.

3. He is an ardent supporter of Tinubu and APC.”

In the clip that surfaced on the internet on Friday, Nwajagu, who was dressed in his royal traditional regalia, could be heard saying Igbo indigenes in Lagos must recruit members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for the safety of their properties.

Meanwhile, in the 2023 global terrorism index (GTI) ranking, which was released on March 15, IPOB was ranked as the 10th deadliest terror group in the world.

“IPOB, we will invite them. They have no job. All of the IPOB will protect all of our shops. And we have to pay them. We have to mobilize for that. We have to do that,” he had said.

We must have our security so that they will stop attacking us at midnight, in the morning, and in the afternoon. When they discover that we have our security before they come, they will know that we have our men there. I am not saying a single word to be hidden. I am not hiding my words; let my words go viral. Igbo must get their rights and get standing in Lagos state.”

Things took a new turn on Saturday when Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of Lagos police command, confirmed that Nwajagu has been arrested.

Department of State Services (DSS), to immediately release the Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, Lagos, Fredrick Nwajagu, who was arrested in a midnight raid by the agency and the Nigeria Police over his comment of inviting IPOB to Lagos to protect the Igbos.

The Eze had allegedly on Friday vowed to invite members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to Lagos to secure properties of Igbo people in the state.

Ugochinyere in a statement calling for his release, also called for arrest of Lagos election violence promoters.

In a related development, Ugochinyere petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba over arrest of Eze Ekene Obinali, the traditional ruler of Umucheke in Umuobom, Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State.

The monarch was arrested on Wednesday by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command for allegedly sharing on a WhatsApp platform a write-up that was said to be very critical of the State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.

Ugochinyere in a statement while calling for the traditional ruler’s immediate release described the arrest by the state governor, Hope Uzodimma as a show of hatred for Ideato people.

“We are intermarrying every day, unlike before. Afenifere and Ohanaeze are today working like one family,” he said.

The royal father said the Igbo-Yoruba relationship expressed in various ways should be stronger now, insisting that politic cannot break it. He advised Igbo making inciting comments to, henceforth, stop, while warning that whosoever does that “is on his own and should be prepared to face the outcome.”

The Eze Ndigbo, who announced the adoption of the APC governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, by Ndieze Igbo and Ndigbo Lagos, said: “Igbo leaders in Lagos took such decisions based on several considerations.”

The Eze Ndigbo, who condemned comments by some Yoruba leaders over the last presidential election, said this does not represent the position of all Yoruba.

He said there have been mutual understanding and stronger relationship and love between Igbo and Yoruba, in marriages, business, politics and friendship.
