Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau, who illegally climbed to the top of Merdeka 118, say they have already left Malaysia.

“Don’t waste the country’s budget on our searches in Malaysia. We are no longer there,” Beerkus wrote in an Instagram post.

He also noted that they had both visited Malaysia legally.

“Our preparation for the climbing took a lot of days. The building had heightened security measures and we had to develop a solid plan that we won’t be able to reveal to you soon,” he added.

Separately, PNB Merdeka Ventures says the group of men who were seen in a recent viral video climbing Merdeka 118 were arrested in May last year.

The company explains that the incident happened on May 1, 2022, and that the trespassers were charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code.

The company says it will also continue to improve security measures at the building.
