In 2019, four Ghanaian men kidnapped two Canadian ladies at Ahodwo a suburb in Kumasi the capital of Ashanti Region of Ghana and sought $800,000 from the victims’ families as ransom.




According to reports, each individual have been sentenced to 10 years in prison with hard labor. 


On June 4, 2019, the group confronted two Canadian ladies who had hailed an Uber transport from their residences in Nhyiaeso,a Kumasi suburb, beat them, …and forced them into their own vehicle while firing. 


They brought their victims to their unfinished building refuge in Kenyasi Krobo, another Kumasi neighborhood, and sought a ransom of $800,000 from the two women’ families during their imprisonment.


The two Canadian girls’ families heard from the convicts’ attorneys in turn as they expressed regret. 


Sampson Agharlor, also known as Romeo, Elvis Ojiyorwe, Jeff Omarsar, and Yusif Yakubu were found guilty on two counts of both kidnapping and conspiracy to kidnap.


Agharlor, Ojiyorwe, and Omarsar are all citizens of Nigeria, although Yakubu is a Ghanaian. 


The four received nine years’ imprisonment each for the conspiracy charge.


They received a 10-year prison sentence with hard labor for each of the kidnapping-related charges. 


The sentenced convicts will therefore each spend 10 years behind bars.
