Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Illinois police officer, Carter Meister, has been arrested for sexually abusing a child who he had a supervisory role over.

A judge is expected to decide at a pretrial detention hearing whether Meister will remain jailed until his trial. That hearing is scheduled for Oct. 10 at 3 p.m.

Meister was charged with four counts of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony punishable by four to 15 years in prison. He was transported to the Livingston County Jail and is awaiting a judge to set pretrial conditions, the release said.

Fairbury Police Chief Robert McCormick said in a news release on Friday that a Fairbury police officer under criminal investigation by ISP has been removed from active duty, though the statement did not mention Meister’s name.

The investigation is ongoing. The news release said Meister has been relieved of his police duties and equipment.
