Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Racist Republicans react as Cori Bush is being investigated for Federal misuse of security funds after she spent $750,000 on her own private security in 2021.
Squad member and progressive Democratic Rep. Cori Bush denied she misused funds for private security and blamed ‘right-wing organizations’ for spurring the Justice Department investigation into her campaign’s spending.
The Missouri lawmaker, who married one of her bodyguards, has spent more than $750,000 on security since she was elected in 2020 out of her campaign account.
‘I can confirm that the Department of Justice is reviewing my campaign’s spending on security services. We are fully cooperating in this investigation,’ she said in a statement.
‘Since before I was sworn into office, I have endured relentless threats to my physical safety and life,’ she told reporters on the House steps.
She added that as a ‘rank-and-file member of Congress’ she is not entitled to personal protection.
Instead, she claims she has used campaign funds to retain security services, including her husband who she said has ‘extensive’ experience in the field.
In December, the House Ethics Committee found former Rep. George Santos stole donor funds to spend on OnlyFans and Botox and filed false election reports. He was later voted out of office by his colleagues.
Santos was only the sixth member of the House to be expelled by a vote in congressional history.
‘They should throw the book at her,’ Republican Tim Burchett of Tennessee told DailyMail.com. ‘Its a crazy amount of money.’
‘She hired her husband who wasn’t qualified to be that form of security guard,’ he added. ‘Well I guess were going to have to decide that; are we going to allow that activity to happen.’
Rep. Anna Paulina, R-Fla., declined to speculate on what could happen to Bush as a result of the investigation and said she will wait for the legal process to play out.
‘Obviously we’re held to a very high standard and we have to follow it,’ she told DailyMail.com.
Another Democrat, Eric Swalwell of California, said he too would wait to see how the investigation unfolds.
