Mason Greenwood and his babymama, Harriet, welcome first baby together with post on IG.
The Manchester United forward, 21, shared a black and white image on Instagram of the newborn’s hand held within both of theirs, and simply captioned it: ‘11.07.23’.
This comes amid a yet to be announced decision on the striker’s future, after he was suspended since January 2022, when he was arrested following the release of images and video online from a female acquaintance. The CPS said the decision came after the ‘withdrawal of key witnesses’.
The player released a statement after the CPS announced their decision, writing: ‘I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support. There will be no further comment at this time.’
United also released a statement saying the club ‘Notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps.’
Greenwood was charged in October 2022 but this afternoon a decision was made by the CPS to discontinue prosecution in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors.
The player, who has been capped once for England, was first held in January over allegations relating to a young woman, after images and videos were posted online.
He was later suspended from United on full pay and removed from the FIFA 22 game. The Instagram announcement, which was Greenwood’s first post on the platform since January 2022, gained thousands of likes in minutes, though he kept his comments turned off.
Earlier this year it was reported Greenwood had plans to marry his partner, who is understood to be a university student.
Their pregnancy was announced in February, after all charges against Greenwood were dropped.
The Sun since reported he had told his family about marriage plans, while later in the year she celebrated a baby shower.
They have yet to reveal the baby’s gender. Last month, Greenwood was pictured working out on a sports centre pitch with a personal trainer. He was also seen training with team-mate Anthony Elanga as he awaits the outcome of the club’s
Away from United he has looked to keep a low profile.
The most likely outcome is that he goes out on loan to a foreign club next season, and it emerged last week that he could be used as a makeweight in United’s bid to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.
It’s understood that United’s football director John Murtough has discussed the possibility of Greenwood making a temporary move to Atalanta during his negotiations with the Italian club over Hojlund.
Greenwood is said to have already rented out his Cheshire home, although United sources say that talk of him going on loan to Italy is highly speculative given that his future at United is still undecided.
