The story of a lady by the name of Makgotso Sindiswa Khoza who passed away on Friday, 20 October 2023 is making rounds on social media.

Evangelical Presbyterian Church pastor, Bongani Khoza, BEAT HIS WIFE, Makgotso Sindiswa Khoza, TO DEATH

Makgotso was married to Bongani Khoza, a pastor at Evangelical Presbyterian Church in the East Rand branch. Makgotso had allegedly been enduring abuse from her husband for years.

The church was allegedly aware that Makgotso was hospitalised 3 weeks back, but did not inform her family.

“Don’t stay in abusive relationships, it doesn’t matter if you are married to a Rev or any faith leader. Walk away while you still can.#EPCSA eastrand and all perishes, it is sad that our churches turn a blind eye to abuse, how many more women are in Makgotso Sindiswa Khoza s’ situation and they don’t speak up! How many more women will suffer in Silence? Emotional abuse, physical abuse are a torture. My Lil sis came back home only for 5 months and still she was suffering inner bruises. Rekgalemetse! But it seems she was too deep to walk away.. Her Asthma was worse when she came back, she couldn’t sleep without a support of pillows.

I will not rest until justice prevails. The Blood of Makgotso Sindiswa Khoza is enough no other woman should suffer in the hands of Abefundisi. It is unfortunate that it took her life to save others and make a noise. how many more? Makgotsos’ are there who can’t speak up nor brave enough to walk away!!!! Because ngo mamfundisi? The church cannot be a slaughter house !”, posted by Makgotso’s sister Zoleka Mazibuko Mogalobe.

The trending hashtag on social media is, #justiceformakgotso

A memorial service was held on Thursday, 26 October and she was laid to rest on Saturday, 28 October 2023 at Randfontein.
