Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Viewers react to sex scene between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Ser Criston Cole and kissing scene between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Daemon on House of the Dragon’s fourth episode, “King of the Narrow Sea”.

“rhaenyra targaryen spent a night in a brothel with daemon, fucked criston cole, successfully lied about it to everyone AND got rid of otto hightower in a span of one episode

that’s a queen,” a viewer wrote.

In her bedchamber, Rhaenrya finds a bundle of old clothes and a diagram pointing out a secret door behind her bed. She outfits herself in pageboy drag, skulks through the catacombs and finds her way to Daemon, waiting for her in an inconspicuous hood and cloak that’s hilariously conspicuous.

They make their way together into the narrow streets of King’s Landing, which are alive with pyromancers and tightrope walkers and fortune tellers and drunks and peasants rutting away in alleys. It’s exotic yet grimy: Cirque du Soleil meets Circus Circus.

They witness a playlet which lampoons the royal family, and the struggle for the Iron Throne, and Rhaenyra, mostly, rolls with it, even when the crowd boos the notion of naming a woman rightful heir.

This, by the way, is the showrunners telling us that she’s possessed of the proper temperament to rule. A tyrant like GoT’s Joffrey would order the players’ heads on pikes, while a weaker ruler might sulk and stew that the people didn’t love them enough. Rhaenyra, for her part, rolls her eyes and shrugs her shoulders, accepting that the common folk need their outlet. This, it seems to me, is the Goldilocks Response — it’s just right.

Back at the Red Keep, Alicent tends to the growing number of Iron Throne ouchies that the king’s steadily accruing, none of which seem to be healing well. She is then summoned to his bedchamber to lie back and think of Oldtown, as the king makes assiduous, dutiful, yeomanlike love to her.

This is offered in contrast to the presumptively more erotic goings-on between Daemon and Rhaenyra, who show up to a brothel, ditch their disguises and then proceed to ditch other items of clothing as well. After much to-ing and fro-ing, Daemon can’t seem to coax his Caraxes out of the ol’ Dragonpit, and abandons Rhaenyra, who makes her way back to the Red Keep. She’s spotted by a street urchin, who skulks off to report this news to … someone.

Matt Smith is ‘gleefully violent’ in House of the Dragon

House of the Dragon’s fourth episode, “King of the Narrow Sea”, offered viewers perhaps its most shocking sex scene yet.

During Monday’s (12 September) episode, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) takes leave of the palace in secret and is led on a romp around Downtown King’s Landing by a cloaked figure.

Rhaenyra approaches Daemon under the Weirwood tree and they speak in Valyrian. She asks why he’s back if he was so happy at Dragonstone. Daemon touches the necklace his niece is wearing. He says he missed the comforts of home. He goes straight for the snacks table, which is super relatable. She thinks he’s acting more mature; he notices she has matured, too, after the four years since they last saw each other. So, that places her age at around 19 or 20 despite her looking much younger, which will be pretty important later. Rhaenyra complains about her marriage tour; Daemon suggests that marriage is just a political arrangement. Daemon complains about his wife, the first one, with whom he still doesn’t have children. He doesn’t mention Mysaria, the woman he took to Dragonstone to marry and impregnate. Rhaenyra doesn’t want to follow her mother into death by childbirth. Daemon insists she not live in fear.

The episode opens on some extreme close-ups of Rhaenyra, including her touching the Valyrian Steel necklace Daemon gave her and her eyes trying to stay alert as someone drones on in the background. It turns out there’s a line of potential suitors each making his case for the hand of the princess. She’s on a marriage tour, and it’s not going well. The older man in robes is talking so much that he needs a drink of water to continue. An audience watches as Rhaenyra sits on a platform with Ser Criston Cole standing next to her. Rhaenyra, wearing a bright red dress, asks the man about her great-grandmother and makes a joke about how old he is. The man is older than her father, a king who is losing fingers and falling apart with every passing week. Next is a boy of maybe 10 years old from House Blackwood. “And now a child,” the princess laments. But he’s super earnest, promising to protect Rhaenyra. Some Adam DeVine-looking guy in the audience taunts the kid, calling him a very bad word and telling the boy that the princess already has protection: a dragon. Good point, but so cruelly delivered. The princess laughs along and dismisses the boy, who upon being taunted one more time draws his sword. Fight! Rhaenyra and Cole take this cue to cut the proposals short and make their exit. Rhaenyra, annoyed, wants Cole to get them a ship; she’s cutting her courtship tour two months short, which the king won’t like.
