Former V.C of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Prof. Francis is dead

Reports reaching to us that the former Vice Chancellor of MOUAU, Professor Francis Otunta has passed away. He died a month after stepping down as the V.C of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State. 

According to reports, he died in terrible auto crash (car accident). The accident took place just one month after he stepped down as the Vice Chancellor of the aforementioned University in Abia state. 

In 2019, he served as the “Returning Officer” for the 2019 Governorship election in Imo state. The students of MOUAU are currently in mourning mood as they pen tribute messages to him. He was a nice man. He died while returning from his hometown to Enugu. 

According to Wikipedia: “Francis Ogbonnaya Otunta – (29 April 1958 – 29 March 2021) was a Nigerian academic staff. He was the fifth Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture upon his appointment in December 2015.

Otunta hailed from Amangwu Nkpoghoro Village in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He was married Bertha Otunta with whom they have six children.”
