Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Sam Mkhombe, the former Private Secretary to King Mswati has died.
Mkhombe died while receiving treatment at the Mbabane Hospital on Monday morning.
The former political activist was appointed by Mswati as his Private Secretary but was later fired together with former Foreign Affairs Minister Mathendele Dlamini after they allegedly tried to revive the Imbokodvo National Movement(INM).
Mkhombe and Mathendele Dlamini, the then powerful Liqoqo member were allegedly spied on by former Deputy Secretary of the now defunct Swaziland Federation of Trade Unions(SFTU)Jabulani Nxumalo who exposed their plan.
Efforts to reach comments from the Mkhombe family proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments,Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) said Sam Mkhombe was one of them as the pro-democracy movement even after being appointed by the King.
“He even tried to revive the royal political party trying to preserve the institution of the Monarchy while introducing democratic reforms. However, he was thrown into the political dustbin by the King whom he worked so hard to protect”,said the NNLC President.
It has been disclosed that Mkhombe and former Liqoqo member Mathandele Dlamini were among the intellectuals of the Tinkhundla system who wanted to revive Imbokodvo and subsequently advise King Mswati to peacefully introduce democratic reforms while preserving the institutions of the Monarchy, however, Mswati fired them.
