Hernando County, FL – A man was arrested on arson charges after he set fire to a police SUV because he was “intoxicated” and does “stupid things” when “drunk.”
Deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office arrested 48-year-old Anthony Thomas Tarduno after Tarduno confessed to setting the vehicle on fire.
Detectives say Tarduno told them he left a nearby bar, saw the patrol vehicle, and decided to set it on fire.
Tarduno told police he started the fire by using a lighter to set fire to a bag of garbage he grabbed from a nearby dumpster.
When asked why he set the SUV on fire, Tarduno told officers he was “intoxicated” and that when he gets “drunk” he does “stupid things.”
Tarduno was arrested on two counts of arson.
He’s being held at the Hernando County Detention Center on $30,000 bond.
