Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Fans want Idris Elba to be new James Bond as James Bond Producers Search for a New 007 Who Will Commit for a Decade.
Yesterday afternoon, Mohamad Safa, revealed that Idris Alba will play the new movie of James Bond. Definitely, he would be the ‘black James Bond.’
Mohamad Safa wrote: “For all you snowflakes losing your minds over a black mermaid, meet the new James Bond.”
Idris shared with The Breakfast Club that she wasn’t the right actress for the part. “She wants to be an actress and she auditioned,” Elba explained. “And you know, it came down to chemistry in the end. You know, my daughter, she was great, but the relationship in the film and the relationship with my daughter was — the chemistry wasn’t right for film, weirdly enough. My daughter didn’t talk to me for about three weeks.” The film’s producer, Will Packer, chimed in: “Idris is right, some of the nuances of that real-life relationship sometimes doesn’t translate onscreen.” Packer was eventually the one who broke the news to Isan that she didn’t get the part. Despite the brief cold shoulder, the two seem to have no hard feelings as Isan attended the film’s premiere with her father this week.
“Idris is right, some of the nuances of that real-life relationship sometimes doesn’t translate on screen,” Packer added.
Elba noted that he is “proud” of Isan, whom he shares with ex-wife Hanne ‘Kim’ Nørgaard, for attending the premiere despite her disappointment.
“I’m really proud of her to go through that, you know what I mean,” Elba said. “And then not get the role, but still come to the premiere.”
“She wants to be an actress and she auditioned,” Elba said on the radio show. “And you know, it came down to chemistry in the end. You know, my daughter, she was great, but the relationship in the film and the relationship with my daughter was — the chemistry wasn’t right for film, weirdly enough. My daughter didn’t talk to me for about three weeks.”
The half siblings — whose mother Dana Natol was married to Broccoli’s father, Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli, Bond’s co-founding producer — have served as the caretakers of Bond since “GoldenEye” (1995), which starred Pierce Brosnan. They worked with the “Remington Steele” actor for another three movies — “Tomorrow Never Dies” (1997), “The World Is Not Enough” (1999) and “Die Another Day” (2002) — before hiring Craig for “Casino Royale” (2006).
The duo formed a strong bond with Craig, and together evolved the character over the course of four more films, including “Quantum of Solace” (2008), “Skyfall” (2012), “Spectre” (2015) and last year’s pandemic-delayed “No Time to Die,” before Craig bowed out as 007. Well before the star’s last turn, however, speculation was rife about his replacement, and Broccoli and Wilson have already been fielding questions about the franchise’s next chapter for years.
Landing James Bond may be the biggest acting gig in Hollywood, but 007 producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson say they still have to pitch prospective actors on the part.
When Variety catches up with Britain’s most famous producers in late August, they’re busy preparing for the 60th anniversary of Bond in October. But the search for a new actor to play the world’s most famous spy is quietly rumbling on in the background. It’s still “early days,” they claim, but whomever lands the role has to be in it for the long haul.
For a while, that person seemed to be Idris Elba. But the “Luther” star recently said he didn’t see Bond when he “looks in the mirror” — remarks that some have interpreted as Elba’s valediction to 007.
